Sewer network will cover a catchment area of 317 hectares
Qatars Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has invited contractors to bid by 10 October for the contract to upgrade the foul sewer network in inner Doha.
The work entails concept design, detailed design and the construction and commissioning of the sewer network.
The facility is expected to collect sewage generated from key areas in central part of inner Doha, including the Msheireb and Bin Mahmoud areas and the areas extending from Salwa Road to Al-Muntazaa.
According to Ashghal this catchment area covers approximately 317 hectares.
The scope of the construction work includes:
- Approximately 40km of foul sewers (pipe size 300mm to 800mm) by open cut trench
- Approximately 23km of foul sewers (pipe size 200mm) for house connection riders
- 1,060 sewer manholes
- 1,949 house connections
Rapid urban development in Doha calls for the upgrade of the existing sewerage infrastructure including the provision of condition assessment, adequacy analysis and the design and construction of the proposed new sewer network.
