Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has invited firms to bid by 15 January for a new roads and infrastructure package, package 7, at Doha Industrial Area.
In addition to improving roads connectivity at the industrial zone, Ashghal is implementing two multibillion-dollar roads and expressway schemes. This move is in line with the country’s long-term economic diversification plan, as well as its staging of the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
In October, it awarded a joint venture of Kuwait-based Al-Ghanim International and local National Industrial Contracting Company the QR671m contract for a section of the $15bn designated for the local roads and drainage programme.
The road and infrastructure contract is for zones 51 and 71 (Al-Kharaitiyat and Izhghawa).
MEED understands the road is located mainly in Umm Slal Municipality, with a small portion of the road extending to Al-Rayyan Municipality.
