Deal covers early works on the site
Qatars Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has invited firms to bid by 25 September for an early works contract on its New Doha Zoo project.
The deal covers enabling of demolition works at the site, which include the demolition of all existing structures, earthworks, landscaping, and the installation of temporary site accommodation, utilities and services.
The new zoo will be built on the site of the existing zoo, which is now closed to the general public, and the theme park, which will be closed later this year.
The animals and residential staff will be gradually relocated to alternative offsite facilities from November 2013 to April 2014.
Ashghal is also close to appointing a design and supervision consultant for the scheme. The project manager is the UK-based Mace Group.
