Qatar’s Public Works Ministry (Ashghal) is currently tendering work for the construction of temporary and permanent roads in its northern areas including Ummsalal, Al-Dayeen, Al-Khor, Al-Dhakira and Al-Shamal municipalities.

The scope of work includes:

• Earthworks
• Unbound pavement material (sub-base)
• Asphalt works
• Kerbs, footways and paves area
• Traffic signs and road marking
• Surface water drainage
• Water works
• Electricity ducts
• Road lightings
• Telecoms (Ooredoo) works

The tender, which closes on 25 August, is open only to Qatari contracting companies. The tender document further specifies that all materials and goods for the project will have to be obtained from local or Qatar-based manufacturers and producers. In particular, cement for the project will have to be sourced from Qatar National Cement Company and reinforcement from Qatar Steel.
