Hyundai confirmed it has won one package on the project. It will build seven 220kV, 66kV and 132kV substations and install overhead lines. Larsen & Toubro has been awarded one package for five 66/11kV substations.
Isolux has won two further packages. The company could not be reached for details of the contract.
France’s Areva won 60 per cent of the work on the project and will build a total of 15 substations. The cost of the whole scheme is estimated at Eur800m ($1.18bn). Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation is the client (MEED 15:1:08).
