Azizi's Dubai skyscraper to start construction this year

The 122-storey Sheikh Zayed Road tower will cost AED3bn ($817m) to build

Local developer Azizi Developments says that construction work on its AED3bn ($817m) 122-storey tower project in Dubai will start in the third quarter of this year.

The 570-metre tall tower on Sheikh Zayed Road will house residential apartments on the first 100 floors and a luxury hotel on the remaining 22 floors. Completion has been scheduled for between 2021 and 2022.

The UK’s Atkins is the consultant. It has refined and updated the original designs for the tower based on recommendations by Azizi.

Azizi tendered construction work for the original tower designs in 2017, but later chose to redesign the scheme. The original designs were prepared by local developer Meydan, which had named the tower Entisar. Meydan later sold the plot of land to Azizi.

Azizi is developing a raft of real estate projects in Dubai. In March it said it will start accepting prequalification applications for AED20bn of upcoming construction work on more than 200 projects. Among the biggest projects are Azizi Riviera at Meydan One and Azizi Victoria at Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum City – District 7.

Other projects planned are Royal Bay and Mina on the Palm Jumeirah, Azizi Aliyah Residences and Farhad Azizi in Dubai Healthcare City, and Azizi Farishta, Azizi Plaza, among others in Al-Furjan.
