Azmeel wins $150m Ras al-Zour villa contract

Saudi Arabia’s Azmeel Contracting Company has been awarded a SR562m ($150m) contract for the construction of the first phase of the residential village at the Ras al-Zour industrial complex being developed by Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden).

The firm was awarded the contract at the end of January and it covers the construction of 500 villas.

In total, the village will have 2,183 housing units, which will be split into four types of housing: management level, skilled labour, semi-skilled labour and unskilled labour.

The contract will also include the construction of a clubhouse, mess halls, mosque, administration and telecoms building, and accompanying site works and utilities. The total site covers 882,000 square metres.

The local Dar al-Handasah is responsible for the masterplan.

The Ras al-Zour industrial zone will include the processing of aluminium as part of an integrated integrated mining and smelting complex (MEED 15:2:08).
