Bahrain Air will suspend operations to Amman following low demand, according to a source at the airline.

He says the airline will resume flights to the Jordanian capital if demand picks up again.

The carrier is introducing a number of new routes in 2010 to target African and Asian markets.

Flights to Dhaka in Bangladesh are scheduled to begin on 16 March and flights to Chittagong will start on 21 March. The carrier also plans to introduce services to Pakistan later in 2010.

Bahrain Air reported revenues of $105m for 2009, up from $80m the previous year. It hopes to achieve 2010 revenues of $140m (MEED 24:1:10).
