New bridges will be built to connect Al-Madina al-Shamaliya islands in Bahrain

Bahrain’s Housing Ministry, acting through its Strategics Projects Committee, has invited companies to prequalify for a contract to build bridges connecting Al-Madina al-Shamaliya Islands 9 & 10 and 11 & 12 in Bahrain.

The bridges project is being funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. The prequalification is open to single entities, joint ventures, or consortiums experienced in bridge construction.

The ministry said preference will be given to UAE contractors for the works. Bahraini contractors should be registered as Grade A in the Housing Ministry or Grade AA in the Works Ministry.

The deadline for submitting bids is 16 July.

The ministry has also invited consultants to prequalify for a contract to supervise construction of bridges, infrastructure and utilities on Al-Madina al-Shamaliya Islands 10, 11 and 12. The deadline for submitting bids is also 16 July.

The bridges project is one of several major infrastructure projects being funded by Abu Dhabi. The emirate’s Fund for Development is also funding the project to build primary sewerage and treated sewage effluent (TSE) networks at Al-Madina al-Shamaliya.
