Project is moving forward after two years of slow progress
Bahrain has received bids for four contracts for the first phase on the revived @Bahrain real-estate development, which will be developed adjacent to the country’s Grand Prix circuit.
Companies have submitted bids for the lead consultancy services, infrastructure design consultancy services, masterplanning consultancy and cost consultancy contracts.
The local office of UK-based Mace International is project manager for the scheme.
Consultancy contracts were originally awarded in 2009, but due to the recession and the collapse of regional real-estate prices little progress was made on the scheme. The Los Angeles office of Aedas prepared the original masterplan for the development, but this has subsequently been reviewed.
The initial masterplan was for a 1,000-square-metre development, which was to include a commercial centre, business parks, an indoor arena, cinema, retail area and hotel.
