New Oncology Centre to be built at King Hamad University Hospital
The Bahrain Defence Force has invited companies to bid by 11 March for a contract to build a new Oncology Centre at King Hamad University Hospital.
The 311-bed hospital was established in 2010 under a royal decree, which stated that it will be affiliated with the Bahrain Defence Force, but will offer services to all citizens.
The Oncology Centre will combine research functions with in-patient, out-patient, diagnostic and treatment facilities. It aims to bring top quality cancer care and research facilities to Bahrain and facilitate internationally co-ordinated clinical trials.
The centre was designed by a team consisting of Australias Hassell, Bahrains Mazen Alumran Consulting Engineers (Mace), US-based Aecom, the UKs MJ Medical, and Baker Willis Smith.
