Bahrain tenders Tubli sewage consultancy work

11 January 2015

No progress on plant expansion

Bids for consultancy services for the use of treated sewage effluent from Tubli Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) are due on 14 January 2015.

Bahrain’s Works Ministry also issued a tender for consultancy work on a trunk sewage pipeline between the Manama suburb of Juffair and the plant. Bids are due on 4 March.

However, no date has been set for the tender of the main contract to expand Tubli STP from 200,000 cubic metres a day (cm/d) to 400,000 cm/d.

The ministry received prequalification documents in January 2014 and finalised a list of prequalified companies in mid-2014. It intended to issue a tender in the October 2014.

The plant expansion is due to be completed in 2018.

As the project will be funded Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, only Saudi and Kuwaiti contractors and consortiums were invited to prequalify. German firm P2m Berlin is the consultant for the expansion scheme.

Contractors submitted bids for the Abu Dhabi funded Al-Medina al-Shamaliya, which will have a capacity of 40,000 cm/d, in November 2014.
