Bapetco sets new target for Obaiyed gas plant

Work is under way at the UK office of the US' Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR)for a contract to provide engineering and support services to the local Badr Petroleum Company (Bapetco)on three new projects for the expansion of its Obaiyed gas plant in the Western Desert. The expansion involves three main elements:

Modifications to the existing gas plant to increase gas and condensate recoveries. The project will include a tie-in with the Qasr field;

Debottlenecking of the gas plant, aimed at increasing gas production to 420 million cubic feet a day;

The installation of a gas pre-compression system to sustain production.

The facilities will take two years to complete. Bapetco is a joint venture of Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Shell Egypt.
