Biography: Bart Cahir has worked for the US’ ExxonMobil since he left university in 1994 and has been in Qatar since 2010. ExxonMobil is a 10 per cent shareholder of the Ras Laffan condensate refinery and also has extensive interests in Qatar’s LNG industry. He started his career with Exxon as a petroleum engineer and has held several different positions since.

After Exxon merged with Mobil in 1998, he worked for eight years as a reservoir specialist, rising to become reservoir supervisor by 2006. Between 2006 and 2010, he worked as a planning analyst, then engineering technical manager for ExxonMobil’s operations in the Aceh province of Indonesia.

In 2010, he moved to Qatar as production and joint interest manager before assuming his current role in 2011. He has a degree in petroleum engineering from Pennsylvania State University in the US.
