The local Iraqi Resources Company, has been awarded a contract to refurbish the Basra sport stadium in the Al-Jumhuriya district of the southern city.
The scope of works covers the repair of irrigation systems and the refurbishment of spectator seating and associated sports facilities. The Coalition Provisional Authority is funding the work. Basra is the largest city in the south, with an estimated population of about 2 million people.
