US-headquartered engineering contractor Bechtel has confirmed it has been awarded a front-end engineering and design (Feed) contract for work on the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s (Adnoc) offshore Hail and Ghasha sour gas fields.
Last month, MEED exclusively reported that Bechtel had been chosen by Adnoc Sour Gas to carry out the Feed work on the project.
“The Hail and Ghasha project is one of the largest sour gas recovery projects that Adnoc is developing to ensure a more sustainable and economic gas supply,” Joe Thompson, Bechtel’s general manager of Downstream and Chemicals, said in a released statement.
“The Bechtel team is looking forward to working with Adnoc on this important project, applying our expertise in high hydrogen sulphide content gas processing,” Thompson said.
The Hail and Ghasha project is one of the largest sour gas fields projects that Adnoc is developing and is forecast to produce about 1 billion cubic feet of sour gas a-day.
The infrastructure requirements for the Hail and Ghasha project include a minimum of 11 offshore artificial islands to be designed and constructed.
