Bids are due to be returned by 8 August for the first package on the 400-kV interconnection and related facilities project in Abu Dhabi. Package 1, estimated to be worth AED 200 million ($54 million), involves the supply and installation of two 400-kV substations to be located on the eastern ring road and beside the Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA) main building (MEED 29:3:02).
Two other packages were due to be issued for bid in early August. Package 2 covers the supply and installation of a 35-kilometre-long, 400-kV overhead transmission line between Mussafah and Umm al-Nar. Package 3 is for about 21 kilometres of cabling.
The consultant on the scheme is the UK's PB Power; the client is ADWEA.
