Local contractors compete for deal to build 1,000 homes

The Municipalities & Agricultural Affairs Ministry has received bids from local contractors for a deal to build 1,000 houses in Bahrain.

Bahrain Pipeline Construction is the low bidder with a price of BD53.17m ($141m), which is just BD9,000 less than the price of BD53.18m submitted by Down Town Construction. The other bidders are Technical Construction Company at BD56m, Hafeera Group at BD61m, AAA Homes at BD66m, and Abdul A’Al Construction at BD72m.

The Housing Ministry received bids in July from local contractors for two construction contracts in the Madinat Hamad area of northern Bahrain.

The first tender is for the construction of 198 townhouses, site preparation works and infrastructure. The low bidder is the local Ahmed Mansour al-Aali with a price of BD8.7m ($23m). The ministry also received bids for a contract to build 80 townhouses and infrastructure. Al-Nasir Contracting is the low bidder with a price of BD3.498m, which is BD207 lower than the bid submitted by Al-Shaheen Contracting (MEED 26:7:09).
