Bids in for Etihad terminal

The Supervision Committee for the Expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport (Scadia) received bids from five groups on 10 June for the estimated $200 million-250 million contract to build a 55,000-square-metre terminal for national carrier Etihad Airways (MEED 9:6:06).

The bidders are: the local Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises with South Africa's Murray & Roberts Contractors (Middle East); the local Al-Jaber Group with Brazil's Odebrecht; the local/Lebanese Arabian Construction Company with Turkey's TAV Gulf; the local Arabtec Construction with Germany's Max Boegl; and Cyprus' Joannou & Paraskevaides (J&P Overseas).

The structure will be connected to the existing main terminal and will include six-nine contact gates, passenger and baggage handling areas, and office and maintenance areas.

The UK's Pascal & Watson is the design consultant. The US' Parsons International is the programme manager.
