International companies have been invited to bid by 16 September for the lot 2 contract in the project to improve efficiency and environmental conditions at the Ataka thermal power station, in Suez. The project is part of a wider power station revamp programme being financed by Germany's Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau (KfW).
Lot 2 entails the refurbishment of turbines, generators and condensers at units 1 and 2, each of 150 MW, and at the 300-MW third unit. The original equipment was supplied by Siemensof Germany. The tender documents are available from the Egyptian Electricity Holding Companyfrom 24 July, on payment of $2,000. Bid documents for lot 1, entailing work on the combustion systems, are expected to be released in the coming months.
