Contractors compete for Al-Abdaly buildings
Kuwait’s Public Works Ministry has received bids from local contractors for the contract to design and build a border post at Al-Abdaly on the border with Saudi Arabia.
The low bidder is Ahmadiah Contracting & Trading Company with a price of KD53m ($185m) which is about two per cent lower than the price of KD54m submitted by Mohammed Abdulmohsin al-Kharafi & Sons. The other bidders are Burhan International Company at KD55m, Combined Group Trading & Contracting Company at KD57m, and United Gulf Construction Company at KD59m.
The border post includes a group of buildings with a total built-up area of 1.2 square kilometres (MEED 13:8:09).
The ministry expects construction to start in January 2010 and plans to complete the project in April 2012.
