BP starts production from Oman's Khazzan tight gas field

26 September 2017

Around 10.5 trillion cubic feet of gas should be recoverable from the field during its lifetime

British Petroleum (BP) has started production from phase one of the Oman’s Khazzan tight gas project, which will yield up to a billion cubic feet a day (cf/d) of gas.

“We are excited to see how this achievement is going to reflect on Oman’s economy. We are indeed harvesting the results of our strategic partnership with BP,” said Oman Oil Company (OOC) chief executive Isam bin Saud al-Zidjali.

“While Oman has a vast set of resources and human capabilities, BP brings its technology to help unlock that potential. This increment of gas supplies will provide feedstock for development of downstream and petrochemical industries.”

Around 200 wells were drilled in the concession operated in partnership with OOC subsidiary Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production.
