The Qatar Foundation headquarters is located within the Education City campus in Doha. The building is found at the centre of Education Citys two main axes, one of which runs from west to east and the other from north to south (the Ceremonial Green Spine), and provides views of the whole campus.
Adjacent facilities include the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, and Texas A&M University at Qatar. From the first conceptual design, the Qatar Foundation headquarters building was created to embody a sense of integrity and provide a strong presence, while at the same time conveying openness and sincerity. Internally, the building is designed to provide a feeling of intimacy shared between all the daily users, and at the same time be open to the outside.
The headquarters building plan is different at each level. An innovative feature of the internal space distribution is the use of bridges within the open atrium. The bridges demonstrate a physical and symbolic link between different departments and different levels of employees.
The headquarters podium landscape has been designed to minimise the use of water. Plants have been carefully selected in order to minimise the amount of irrigation needed.
