UAEPittsburgh-based architects Burt Hill Kosar Rittelmann Associatesannounced on 2 September the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary in Dubai. Burt Hill International will offer architecture, engineering and design services for the region.

‘Most architecture firms enter a foreign market hoping to cherry-pick mega projects without making a commitment to the market,’ says Anton Germishuizen, managing principal of the firm’s head office. ‘We are establishing a permanent presence in Dubai and have senior people willing to spend the time to develop the market. We will be in a position to compete for a steady stream of both larger and smaller, but very attractive projects.’

In recent years, US architects have been increasingly active in the UAE market.
