Contract award worth $31m for Muscat museum project
The Culture & Heritage Ministry has awarded the local/UK Carillion Alawi the RO12m ($31m) main construction contract on its new National Museum project in Muscat.
The other bidders are the local Galfar Engineering & Contracting at RO13m, the local Al-Turky Enterprises at RO14.5m and the local/Indian Oman Shapoorji Construction Company (Osco) at RO16m.
The local Ali & Company Trading & Contracting is working on the RO390,000 enabling works package.
In July last year Carillion Alawi won the estimated RO100m contract to build Oman’s majlis (parliament) complex, which is also in Muscat (MEED 24:7:09).
Carillion Alawi will build the majlis on a 100,000-square-metre site in central Muscat.
The client is the Royal Court.
