Local developer Damac Properties has awarded Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation the estimated AED600m ($163m) contract to build one of the towers at its Aykon City development in Dubai.
The contract covers main works construction for a 53-storey serviced apartment tower. The tower includes two basements, a ground floor and 10 podium levels, a dedicated lifestyle and entertainment level, 53 residential floors and a rooftop.
The enabling work for the tower is already complete and China State is expected to start work on the main works on 1 March.
Located alongside Sheikh Zayed Road next to Safa Park and the Dubai Water Canal, the 4 million-square-foot Aykon City development comprises towers with residences, serviced apartments, a hotel and office space.
