Kuwait is targeting four million barrels a-day crude production by 2020

China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation has submitted the lowest bid for train 3 at state-owned upstream operator Kuwait Oil Company’s Wara pressure maintenance project, according to sources.

The Chinese firm submitted a bid of KD57m ($187m) for the project in South East Kuwait, which will provide pressure support for the Wara formation in the Burgan field. Indian engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro submitted the second lowest bid of $220m.

The scope of the project includes construction of a pressure maintenance plant, two effluent waste disposal plants as well as manifolds, pipelines and flow lines.

Kuwait is undertaking several energy infrastructure support projects to boost its crude production up to four million barrels a day (b/d) by 2020. State oil company Kuwait Petroleum Corporation recently announced that it would raise its production capacity - which includes overseas reserves - to 4.75 million b/d by 2040.
