Joint venture’s five-year deal covers seven Qatargas LNG trains
The joint venture of Japan’s Chiyoda and the local Almana has signed a five-year engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) framework agreement with Qatargas.
Chiyoda and Almana will be on standby for EPCM services for seven liquefied natural gas (LNG) production trains and associated facilities.
The contract runs for an initial period of three years, with the option of a two-year extension.
Chiyoda has constructed all of Qatargas’s LNG trains.
Qatargas is the world’s largest producer of LNG with a production capacity of 42 million tonnes a year (t/y). Four of its plants are known as megatrains, with a production capacity of 7.8 million t/y each.
