Biography: Christos Papadopoulos has been regional CEO for the UK’s Standard Chartered since September 2010. He joined the bank in 2006 as global head of financial institutions, a part of the business that he helped develop across Standard Chartered’s international operations.
As regional head of the lender, Papadopoulos runs one of the most significant international banks in the region, with a presence in most countries and a big role in the syndicated loans, bonds, project finance and retail banking sectors.
Previously, he worked for accountancy giant KPMG for 17 years, managing its relationships with global financial institutions. He was also chairman of KPMG Kuwait and on the board of KPMG Middle East and South Asia. During his career, he has been based in many locations around the world, including Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
