Commodore wins Dubai Lagoon contract

Local contractor to start work on project within the next month

The local Schon Properties has awarded a AED82.3m ($22m) contract to the Abu-Dhabi-based Commodore Contracting Company for construction works on its AED3bn Dubai Lagoon project.

The contract involves concrete works, double basement works, superstructure works, water-proofing and related works for zones two and four of the residential development. The work will cover a total area of 1,412,648 square feet.

Commodore is to begin work on zone two within the next month, and the contractor will begin work on zone four in June. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2012.

The local Bin Sabt Building Contracting Company has almost completed the structure work on zone one, and the local Belhasa Contracting & Engineering Company is currently involved with construction work on zone three.

When completed, the Dubai Lagoon development will have 4,166 residential units within 53 low-rise apartment buildings. The development will cover a total area of 163,000 square metres.
