Chinese group to upgrade 90 wells on oil development in southeast Iraq
China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) is preparing to receive bids on a tender to upgrade 90 oil wells at its Missan development in Iraq.
Contractors have been given until 10 August to submit bids for the contract at the Buzurgan, Fauqi and Abu Ghirab oil fields in the southeast of the country.
The scope of the work for each well covers the construction of wellhead control panel (WHCP), a set of solar power systems, shut down valve (SDV), a production line, protective shed for WHCP, well pedal, operation platform and related concrete, steel support and accessories.
A consortium of CNOOC and Turkey Petroleum Overseas (TPAO) signed an agreement with the Oil Ministry in May 2010, to increase production at three fields in the Missan province to 450,000 barrels a day (b/d) by the end of 2016.
The development project will be undertaken in two phases. The first three years cover the rehabilitation of the fields and facilities. This has been completed and production lifted to 110,000 b/d since the beginning of 2013.
The second phase, known as the enhanced redevelopment plan, covers the overall development of the fields to reach a production capacity of 450,000 b/d for seven years.
