More Doha Metro awards expected in March
Qatar Railways Company has awarded a consortium of Spains FCC, Geneva-registered Archirodon Construction, Turkeys Yuksel, and the local Petroserv a $700m contract to build a section of the Doha Metro.
The section of the Red Line includes building three stations at Barwa Village, Al-Wakrah and Qatar Economic Zone, and a 7-kilometre-long section of elevated metro line. The contract duration is 31 months.
An award is also expected for the much larger contract for the tunnelling works for the Gold Line in March. In late February, MEED reported that two consortiums are in the final stages of negotiation with Qatar Railways Company.
The two groups competing for estimated the $3.3bn-plus contract are:
- Aktor (Greece)/Yapi Merkezi (Turkey)/STFA (Turkey)/Larsen & Toubro (India)/AlJaber Engineering (local)
- Hochtief (Germany)/Al-Jaber Trading (local)/Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) (Athens-based)/Marbu Contracting Company (local)/Lusail Hochtief (local/Germany)
