Expansion to increase tank capacity to 600,000 tonnes
Vopak Horizon Fujairah, the joint venture responsible for growing oil storage capacity at the emerging transport hub on the Gulf of Oman coast, will likely tender the construction contract for its seventh expansion phase in March next year.
The expansion will increase the capacity of the joint venture’s terminal to 600,000 tonnes.
Vopak Horizon Fujairah consortium consists of Holland’s Vopak, Dubai-owned Emirates National Oil Company, the government of Fujairah, Vitol and the Independent Petroleum Group. The venture is building a tank farm for the crude transport hub in the emirate of Fujairah, which allows tankers to load up without passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
