UK team bids low for masterplan and design services

Bahrain’s Works Ministry has received financial bids from four groups for a contact to provide masterplan and concept design services for the first phase of the Bahrain Polytechnic Campus in Rawdat as Sakhir.

The low bidder is the UK-based team of Sheppard Robson and Davis Langdon. The firms submitted two alternative offers of BD200,000 and BD229,000 ($530,000). the London office of Aedas submitted a bid of BD300,000; AFT & Partners, based in Buenos Aires, and Bahrain’s Gulf House Engineering submitted a bid of BD903,000; and Spain’s Cloud 9 bid BD5.6m.

Technical bids were submitted in June (MEED 25:6:09).

The polytechnic campus opened in 2008 and is using buildings at the University of Bahrain’s Isa Town campus.

It now has room for 200 students but will be able to accomodate 4,000 people when the first phase of the new campus is complete in four years’ time.
