Dubai-based developer Damac Properties has awarded an AED1.2bn ($327m) contract to local Darwish Engineering Emirates to construct the Venice cluster in Damac lagoons development.

The contract covers the main construction works for 275 villas.

In June, Damac awarded contracts totalling nearly AED235m ($64m) for construction work at the Damac Lagoons development.

Hills & Fort Construction secured a contract for the roads and infrastructure works in the Malta and Venice clusters.

Ancient Builders Construction will undertake the primary works package for 61 villas at the Portofino cluster. 

In May, Damac appointed Delta al-Emarate Building Contracting as the main contractor for two clusters, Nice N2 and Nice N3, at Damac Lagoons. 

The developer has recently awarded construction contracts for other projects. Earlier this month, the local Al-Qandeel Contracting secured an AED236m contract to build 515 three-bedroom townhouses for the Camelia cluster at the Damac Hills 2 development. 

In January, Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation was awarded the estimated AED955m main construction contract for Damac’s Cavalli Casa ultra-luxury tower in the Al-Sufouh area between Dubai Media City and Dubai Marina. 

Damac Lagoons

Damac Lagoons is a water-inspired community adjacent to Damac Hills.

The project covers an area of 4.45 square kilometres and will include 510 villas and townhouses. Amenities will include rock-climbing walls, indoor snorkelling, kayaking and paddle surfing, and bicycle trails.

The scheme has 93,000 sq m of lagoons with beaches. As well as the Portofino, Malta, Nice and Costa Brava sections, there are Venice, Santorini, Marbella, Monte Carlo and Ibiza clusters. Completion is set for the end of 2024.
