Arab Engineering Bureau Assaf is main consultant
The local Muriya Tourism Development Company (Muriya) has appointed a main contractor for work on its Golf Lake Residences project in Oman, according to a company statement.
The local Hussain Fadhil & Partners will construct 14 residential buildings for the $100m scheme, which is expected to be completed by the final quarter of 2018.
Muscat-based Arab Engineering Bureau Assaf is the main consultant for the project.
The Golf Residences will be located within the Jebel Sifah resort scheme. Once completed it will be a 6.2 million-square-metre mixed-use resort on the coast of the Arabian Sea near the countrys Hajjar Mountains.
Omans strategy is to grow the number of visitors to the sultanate to at least 11 million by 2040 and increase tourisms contribution to the economy to 6-10 per cent.
In 2016, the country attracted 2.2 million international visitors and the tourism sectors GDP contribution was 2.6 per cent, according to Maitha Saif Majid al-Mahrouqi, undersecretary for the Tourism Ministry.
