New Doha International airport is set to open in December

UAE-based Al-Nakheel Contracting has been awarded an estimated QR389m ($106m) contract for landscaping work at the New Doha International airport (NDIA) project.

The contract involves landscaping works on the highway running alongside the new airport, work on the access road leading up to the terminal building and interior landscaping works around the airport.

The design consultant for the airport’s landscaping is US-based HOK.

Contractors working at NDIA are preparing for the opening of the airport at the end of this year. The target opening date is 12 December.

Earlier this month, Doha said that it will allocate an additional $2bn to completing the construction of the airport. It is now expected to cost $15.5bn.
