Hotel will be located in Bahrain Bay waterfront development
Contractors have been invited to prequalify for the contract to build a new JW Marriott Hotel at the Bahrain Bay development in Bahrain.
The hotel project will consist of a 50-storey tower on top of a five-storey podium, with three floors of underground parking. The development will cover a total area of 97,000 square metres.
The east side of the tower will contain 276 hotel rooms and related facilities and the west side will contain 96 serviced apartments. The five-storey podium will contain the banquet hall and meeting facilities, lobbies and common areas, in addition to 200 car parking spaces. The underground car park will contain 220 car parking spaces.
The consultant is the local YDA & Associates. The client is the local Khaleej Capital, a joint venture of Qatar-based Business Trading Company and the local Remza Investment Company.
The JW Marriott is the second hotel project in Bahrain Bay that has been tendered in the past year. In July 2011, Belgium’s Six Constuct was awarded the main construction contract for the Four Seasons Hotel.
The Four Seasons at Bahrain Bay will contain a 300-metre-tall hotel, which will be one of the tallest buildings in the kingdom when completed. The hotel will have a built-up area of 68,000 sq m and a car parking area of 20,000 sq m.
