Karak wastewater treatment project to have a capacity of 8,000 cubic metres a day
Jordan’s Water & Irrigation Ministry and the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) have issued a request for qualification (RFQ) to contractors to build a wastewater treatment plant at Karak.
The qualified bidders will be invited to bid to build the 8,000-cubic-metre-a-day wastewater treatment plant.
The new wastewater treatment plant is to be constructed in parallel with the existing facilities. During construction, the existing facilities will be maintained in full operation by WAJ.
Once the new facilities are completed, full flow will be diverted and the contractor will be responsible for its operation, providing training to the WAJ staff, for a period of 12 months.
The government of Germany is providing financing in support for the project through Kreditanstalt for Wiederaufbau (KfW). However, the ministry will be the client and KfW will not be party to the contract with the contractor.
Only Jordanian companies and international companies with a local partner are eligible to participate in the tender. Contractors must respond to the RFQ by 24 October. Responses will be opened on the same day.
