Saudi Electricity Company has issued tenders for the construction of two major 380-kV substations at the PP9 power station expansion and new PP10 power plant in Riyadh.
Bids are due by 2 April for the contract to supply and install a 380-kV substation to serve the PP9 expansion, which is being carried out by the local Arabian Bemco Contracting.
Seven local and international contractors are prequalified to bid for the work. They are Europe's ABB, France's Areva T&D, Germany's Siemens, the local/South Korean Middle East Engineering & Development Company (Meedco), and Al-Toukhi Contracting, SSEM and Bemco, all local.
The same seven companies are invited to submit bids by 8 April for a similar contract for a 380-kV substation at the planned 2,000-MW PP10 plant. Technical and commercial offers for the estimated $1,500 million-2,000 million engineering, procurement and construction contract to build the plant are due on 21 April (MEED 2:3:07).
The local Al-Fanar Construction Company has been selected for the SR 272 million ($72.5 million) contract to build a new 380-kV substation serving the PP8 extension in Riyadh (MEED 1:12:06).
