Four international contractors have submitted bids for the contract to build a gas pipeline network within Ras Laffan Industrial City.
They are Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC), Lebanon’s Contracting & Trading Group (CAT), Larsen & Toubro of India, and Italy’s Saipem.
The estimated $120m engineering, procurement and construction contract covers the installation of 25 kilometres of carbon steel pipeline and the construction of several booster stations.
An award on the job is expected by the summer.
Bids are also due by 15 June for a second, larger gas pipeline scheme between Ras Laffan and Mesaieed.
Known as the strategic gas pipeline, the estimated $300m project covers the installation of a 32-inch-diameter, carbon steel pipeline over a distance of 140 kilometres.
The consultant on both schemes is the UK’s Mott MacDonald. The client on each job is Qatar Petroleum (MEED 3:5:08).
