Contracts signed for Dubai's M station power plant

13 March 2008
Italy’s Fisia Italimpianti and South Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction have signed engineering, procurement and construction contracts for the M station project at Jebel Ali in Dubai.

In March 2007, Doosan was awarded the 1,330MW power island on the project and Fisia won the contract to build the 70 million gallon-a-day (g/d) desalination complex.

Two months later, the companies received additional orders committing them to build an additional 70 million g/d and 700MW of capacity at the site.

Germany’s Siemens will supply six gas turbines to the power plant with France’s Alstom supplying three steam turbines. Doosan will provide six heat recovery steam generators and Alstom three steam turbines.

The project is due to be completed in 2010. Dubai Electricity & Water Authority is the client (MEED 9:3:07).
