Daman Corporate Health and Wellness Awards recognise UAE organisations driving wellbeing in the workplace

The sixth edition of the Daman Corporate Health and Wellness Awards has rewarded eleven companies in the UAE for prioritising employee health and wellbeing.

A gala dinner, hosted at W Dubai - The Palm in collaboration with MEED, recognised companies that have taken tangible steps to create a healthier, happier and more productive workforce.

Designed to highlight UAE companies that promote corporate wellness, the awards emphasise the importance of workplace health.

In its sixth edition, the awards received a record number of 105 applications from companies with corporate wellness programmes. Finalists were selected based on the quality and efficacy of their initiatives, including their implementation of employee fitness programmes, promoting extracurricular employee activities, and encouraging support within local and regional communities.

The finalists submitted entries for 15 separate categories, including the Daman Corporate Health & Wellness Visionary, the Daman Corporate Health & Wellness Champion, and the prestigious Daman Corporate Health & Wellness Award 2019.

Hamad al-Mehyas, deputy CEO of Daman, commented: “I extend my congratulations to the participants, finalists and winners of the sixth Daman Corporate Health and Wellness Awards. The high level of participation this year is indicative of increasing corporate commitment to the wellbeing of employees. For employees working in the UAE, maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle is an essential aspect of enhancing their future health.

“Employees spend a third of their day at work, consequentially impacting their overall health. Our objectives behind these awards are to showcase how this impact can be positive and long-term across all workplaces. Healthier employees are more productive, which ultimately results in better performing businesses; collectively these businesses have the potential to boost the overall economy. We are confident that corporate health initiatives are a catalyst for a seamless win-win-win scenario for the individual, organisation and the economy,” said Al-Mehyas.
