An affiliation agreement has been signed between the Qatar Foundation and the Weill Cornell Medical College to enable the Sidra Medical and Research Centre to become the first academic medical centre of its kind outside North America, the Peninsula has reported. The hospital is scheduled to open in 2012 with 400 beds and will focus initially on providing specialty care for women and children along with certain specialty medical and surgical services.
