Developer tenders Dubai Marina towers

Jumeirah Gate will be built on the Gulf Coast next to Jumeirah Beach Residence

Contractors have been invited to submit bids by 8 June for the contract to build The Address Jumeirah Gate development at Dubai Marina.

The contract involves building twin 74 storey mixed-use towers that are 303 metres tall on the Gulf coast next to Jumeirah Beach Residence.

The scheme, which is also known as The Address Residences Jumeirah Resort and Spa development, will have a total built-up area of 255,000 square metres.

The local Middle East Foundation Group was appointed as the enabling works contractor in December last year.

The hotel properties will be managed by three Emaar Hospitality brands: The Address Hotels + Resorts, Vida Hotels and Resorts, and Rove Hotels.

The project is being developed by Abu Dhabi-based Al-Ain Properties. The designs were prepared by the local Killa Design. The project was previously considered by Abu Dhabi-based Eagle Hills.

Other major tower projects are moving forward in Dubai. Four contractors have submitted bids for the contract to build Nakheel’s Palm Gateway scheme.

The bidders are India’s Shapoorji Pallonji, Abu Dhabi’s Trojan General Contracting, Lebanon’s Arabian Construction Company (ACC), and Canada’s Multiplex.

The project involves the construction of three towers and a beach complex, and is expected to take about three years to complete. It will be built on top of an existing car park that serves the Palm monorail on Al-Sufouh road at the entrance to the Palm Jumeirah.

The Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) has received offers from contractors for the contract to build its One Zabeel development in the World Trade Centre area.

The project has been designed as a new landmark for Dubai and involves the construction of two high-rise towers connected by a sky bridge.

It is understood that the local Alec and Canada’s Multiplex were the contractors that submitted bids for the construction deal.

Local developer Wasl has selected the Dubai-listed Arabtec Construction as the main contractor for its Wasl Tower project in Dubai, according to sources close to the scheme.

Located on the corner of the first interchange opposite the Downtown Dubai District, the project involves the construction of a 60-storey tower that will be about 300 metres tall and will feature the world’s tallest ceramic facade.

Contractors are winning enough work to replace projects that are being completed

Dubai’s projects market made a steady start to the year with $7.2bn of contract awards according to data from regional projects tracker MEED Projects.

On a year-on-year basis, the total for the first quarter is down by about 5 per cent on the $7.6bn of awards made in the first quarter of 2016. On a quarterly basis the first quarter total is up by more than 25 per cent on the $5.7bn of awards made during the fourth quarter of last year.

The value of awards also far exceeded the value of project completions. There were $3.5bn of projects completed in the first quarter, which means MEED’s Project Activity Monitor (PAM) for Dubai in the first quarter is positive with strong growth. This is a strong rebound from 2016 which saw the PAM for Dubai experienced negative growth. In 2016 the net gain of projects was negative by $4.45bn, the first negative score for the emirate since 2012 when its projects market was still recovering from the 2008-09 debt crisis. Read more
