The government is pushing ahead with a further expansion of its sporting infrastructure, as it looks to build on the success of the Doha Asian Games with a new stadium.Plans have been drawn up by the Sports City Committee for the construction of a major new football complex in the Al-Thumama area of Doha, off the E ring road.Selected contractors have been invited to bid by 15 January for the new sports club. It will centre on the construction of a new stadium, with capacity for about 10,000 spectators, to house a football pitch, basement parking, a VIP stand and press facilities. In addition, a training complex will be built, covering staff accommodation, a football field and athletes' quarters.
