06 September 2002

Abu Dhabi-based Dolphin Energy (DEL) has invited companies to submit bids by 30 October for a contract to supply and install compressor units and gas turbines at Ras Laffan for the proposed Dolphin gas export project.

Two sets of prices are due to be submitted. The first, a base price, includes the installation of seven gas compressor units, gear boxes, control systems and related equipment.

An alternative offer will also be submitted, which will include the installation of seven compressor units and related equipment and up to eight gas turbines with a total capacity of 280-320 MW.

The Dolphin project involves the supply of 2,000 million cubic feet a day of Qatari gas via a 440-kilometre subsea pipeline to the UAE. Deliveries are due to begin in the first half of 2006 (MEED 19:7:02; 15:3:02).
