Douglas joins Abu Dhabi Airports Company

Former chief executive officer of the Abu Dhabi Ports Company is to oversee airport expansion

Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has appointed Tony Douglas as its new chief executive officer (CEO).

Moving from his previous role as CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), he will now be overseeing Abu Dhabi’s airport expansion. In particular, he will be responsible for the multibillion-dollar midfield terminal project which aims to boost the Abu Dhabi’s international airport’s capacity to 40 million passengers a year.

Douglas joined ADPC in 2010, where he was charged with delivering the Khalifa Port and Kizad Industrial zone project. The 2.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) port opened in September last year.

Before working at ADPC, Douglas was the CEO for London’s Heathrow airport where he oversaw the development of the airport’s Terminal 5. He has also held the position of chief operating officer of the UK-headquartered construction company Laing O’Rourke.
