Drake & Scull wins contract on Palm Jumeirah

The Dubai-based Drake & Scull International has been awarded a AED162m ($44m) contract for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) work on the Palm Jumeirah.

The contract covers the full MEP works for the Fairmont Palm Hotel & Resort, which will be located on the western portion of the trunk of the Palm Jumeirah.

Under the contract, Drake & Scull will supply, install, test and commission the complete heating, ventilating and air conditioning works as well as the plumbing, drainage, water treatment and fire-fighting systems.

The hotel is being developed by the Kuwait-based IFA Hotels & Resorts.

The local Dubai Contracting Company (DCC) was awarded the AED650m contract for the residence package on the resort in May 2006 and secured the hotel construction contract, valued at AED500m in March 2007 (MEED 2:5:08).
