Dubai extends airshow facilities tender

Two hangars will be built at Al-Maktoum International airport

Dubai Aviation City Corporation has extended the tender closing date to 2 January for the contract to build facilities at Al-Maktoum International airport in Jebel Ali that will be used for the biennial Dubai Airshow.

The previous closing date was 18 December (MEED 9:12:11).

The work involves building two large hangars in time for the next Dubai Airshow in 2013. The consultant for the project is Lebananon’s Dar al-Handasah.

The first phase of Al-Maktoum International airport, which is also known as Dubai World Central, opened for cargo operations on 1 July 2010.

Dubai has already invested $4.6bn in Dubai World Central so far, which has gone towards the construction of the airport, infrastructure on the south side of the airport, the runway, control towers and the Logistics City development.
